After the very successful premiere of the format in 2023, we were once again commissioned by Ubisoft to host and produce the R6 Central Combine in 2024. With a greater focus on the semi-professional Rainbow Six Siege eSports scene than in the previous year, the task was to design a tournament system with a robust set of rules and a functional website and tournament platform that would identify the two best teams from 142 registered teams over a period of seven weeks, starting with four open qualifying match days via various group and knockout phases, who would compete in an offline final in front of spectators at XPERION Cologne.
The match days were covered by a total of 19 community streamers in nine languages. In addition to coordinating the necessary observers and streamers, we provided communication channels and assets that could be used for the streams.
After the qualifiers, we also produced our own shows from a specially designed studio, which were broadcast on official Rainbow Six/Ubisoft Twitch channels. The studio, which was set up in the style of the game and received a lot of praise and enthusiasm both internally and externally, was animated by four talents (two hosts/analysts and two casters), whose booking, travel planning, catering and briefing we naturally took care of.
We brought the entire studio with us to the offline final of the R6 Central Combine at XPERION in Cologne, so that it could not only be used to produce the final show, but could also be inspected by the almost 150 visitors on site and used as a photo background.
For the offline final, travel plans had to be made at short notice for both our talents and the two teams that qualified for the final, including their coaches. In addition to accommodation in hotels in Cologne during Gamescom, we also had to coordinate the timely arrival and departure of 18 people from eight countries.
In addition, the ten game stations had to be equipped with powerful gaming PCs and monitors to meet the players' demands for a smooth and fair gameplay.
Of course, there was also a trophy for the winning team, the design and production of which was coordinated by us in the unique R6 Central Combine style.
R6 Central Combine branded goodie bags were provided for spectators on site, containing various merchandise and R6 Central Combine 2024 memorabilia. A gaming PC with individual R6 Central Combine branding and a total value of €3,000 was raffled off among the viewers in the Twitch streams. For this, we used a specially developed software solution that allocated tickets to the viewers of the streams according to their viewing times, one of which was then drawn live in front of the audience at the end of the final.
